Ariel, Phoebe, Akira and all Piper Doll Silicone dolls benefit from this improvement. This is welcome news when you consider the pain of carrying your doll. But how does weight reduction work, and what does it mean?
How does Weight Reduction on Silicone Dolls work?
As opposed to a TPE doll, which you can read about in this post, silicone dolls are generally made of firm foam and a thin silicone skin.
This material, which looks a little like expanded foam, is much lighter than silicone for the same volume, thus reducing the doll's weight.
It is generally distributed from the doll's bust to its thighs, for an average weight saving of 30%. The thinner the silicone skin, the greater the weight, to the detriment of softness and sometimes solidity.
Doll's Life is a Compromise
For many, the chase for softness is a quest, particularly true for silicone dolls, and even more so when you come from the TPE world. The problem is that the quest for softness and weight reduction are the antithesis of each other. Put another way, the lighter a silicone doll, the firmer it is, note that the reverse is also true.
To counteract this thinness of skin, which translates into increased firmness, manufacturers are generally tempted to add oil to their silicone blend. To sum up:
Lighter = more foam = less silicone = firmer feel = more oil to recover lost softness = more tearable.
You may therefore make the weight concession as proposed by Elsa Babe with slightly softer bodies, but up to 30% heavier (source: Elsa Babe) and no after-sales service possible like most manufacturers offering this option.

The Power of Piper Doll
No doubt about it, Piper Doll TPE or silicone doll has always been and still is, the softest materials. Owning several Piper TPEs and silicones myself, as well as Doll Forever dolls (made in the same way as Piper), dolls and torsos, it's unlikely that a few millimeters less silicone skin will make much difference to the brand's epic softness.
We'll have to wait and see, but in any case, we welcome the improvements made by Piper Doll, particularly the massive weight reduction Ariel and Akira from 35 to 28 kg and from 41 to 30 kg respectively.
The weight reduction on Piper Doll silicone dolls is already effectiveand will soon be updated throughout the store.
So who do we thank? Thank you Mizuwali!
